Kara, I love the story and the photos! Like you, I am not an official, decked-out birder. I just have an average camera and regular clothes, but I do like in Florida which makes birdwatching much easier than in many locations.

When two of Ben's daughters visited in September, one noticed a book I was reading - Bird Therapy by Joe Harkness. She wasn't a birder but thought the book would be a good read. I had just finished and gave it to her when she returned to New Jersey. That book turned her into a birder! She's joined a local group in her city and went on her first birding excursion a couple of weeks ago.
