Laura, this story is so relevant to the confidence of kids and of women, young and old. I believe that women tend to rely on cues from others more than men do. When leaving to go out, my husband rarely asks my opinion of his appearance, but I almost always ask for his. I can give a hundred other examples for myself and other women. We are so connected to the opinions of others, rating them far above our own.

As I've aged, this realization became more acute and I'm trying to focus on what I think rather than what others think. I hope your daughter does the same.
