Lisa Renee, this is exactly what my husband tells me. There is the big world, which often contains little we can control, and there are smaller worlds that reside in the walls of homes, along the streets of our neighborhood, in the halls where we work or teach or learn. The small worlds are where we have control — at least some control — where we make hundreds of choices each day that affect thousands of people like the ripples from a stone tossed in a still lake. If we allow the big world to overwhelm and paralyze us, our small world crumbles and we have no safe haven, no warm hearth, no place to gather love.

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
