Marie, your story is a perfect example of what we can do in our communities to help the environment. People are lazy and don't care. If throwing a soda can out the car window is easier than putting it in a bag to dispose of properly later, that's what most will do. We live in a ME society. It's all about ME and what I want and what is easiest for ME.

There is a retired couple who, until the pandemic, picked up trash on the roadway by our townhome. Our street leads to an elementary school and families drive-through McDonald's on their way to school and their food trash is thrown out on the street as they approach the school. Kids walking to school drop donut wrappers, juice boxes, and an unbelievable amount of food. Once I found two untouched pieces of chicken on the sidewalk! It's so disgusting.
