Martie, I truly like your story — I share many of the same memories. Thank you for submitting it to Weeds & Wildflowers, but I do want to point out that because it was previously published on Sept 2nd, it doesn’t show up on the W&W front page.

All published pieces appear by original publication date and since the front page of W&W holds 17 pieces with the oldest publication date at the moment being November 25th, yours doesn’t appear. I’m sorry but that is how Medium works and there is nothing I can do to change the date order.

I would be very pleased if you submit a new piece in draft form. Then, when I publish it, the piece will appear as the lead story until the next publication.
