Mine grow tall. I have two that are about 6 feet. I do need to trim them though and then, they may widen.

The hibiscus that was here when we moved in froze our second winter, despite in being well wrapped. It never fully recovered. No more blooms. I moved it to a more protected area this spring and it died completely, so I planted two new ones that are doing great. Both had blooms in the spring and early summer. A few stray flowers appeared in August but nothing for a few weeks. We'll see what happens when I trim them down to about 5 1/2 feet. Hopefully, they'll put their growing energy into producing flowers rather than height.

The maddening thing about that freeze was that my neighbor didn't wrap her two hibiscus that are in the open. We had two weeks of freezing temperatures. Hers survived and mine withered.
