Most of my clients are law firms so I can understand his concern. One of my clients is a family law firm and it’s the hardest hit. All hearings and trials have been postponed. No new clients in 3 weeks. One employee laid off. The firm is struggling to stay afloat.

My largest client is a firm that specializes in real estate law, corporate law, and estate planning. It’s still going strong, though not as strong as it was. They get real estate closing contracts but now the refinances outnumber the contractual closings. Yet, I am opening 5 to 10 files a day — almost all real estate related. The managing partner tries to decrease the employees present at any given hour to 50% the norm. I am doing some work from home but so much can only be done in the office. No clients are allowed in the office. All closings and conferences take place on the back porch of the office (the office is built like a Southern home).

It’s all a dance — a virus dance.

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
