My daughter and grandchildren also have peanut allergies but they have skin reactions — rash, redness, itching. They use organic almond butter in place of peanut butter.
I also have an allergy to peanuts that was diagnosed when I was 55. My reaction is different though, similar to hay fever. Sneezing, congestion. Fortunately, I never liked peanut butter. Even detest the smell of it. I only ate peanuts in candy or baked goods — both are easy to avoid. Unfortunately, even a trace of peanuts causes a reaction so I have to be very careful with any commercial food products like packaged cookies, etc. All items I can easily avoid.
Interesting how peanut allergies present differently although I have been told milder symptoms, like those in my family, can morph into the severe, life-threatening ones.
