My family members were not story-tellers. They were liars - well, at least my dad was. I fear that most of the stories I think belong to us were just dad's fibs.

Ben, on the other hand, has many handed-down stories and sayings - most from his mother who would never lie. Of course, sometimes meanings get lost in the translation from Spanish to English but usually enough meaning seeps through for me to appreciate the story or the moral of the story .

Ben also keeps track of everything in the neighborhood and tells me all sorts of boring details about people I don't know and will probably never know. He doesn't know them either but acts like he does. Usually he is guessing at what is really going on. Sounds like you and Deb do the same.

And, no one should ever take sugar into the rain!!

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
