My mind clouds with confusion when I think about all these senseless killings, Bruce. How are they possible - over and over and over again? Partly because of the training or lack thereof. In many countries, police must have a college degree and as many as 5,500 hours of police training (Finland). Germany - 4,000. Australia - 3,500. Great Britain - 2,500. USA - between 500 and 1,000 and only a high school diploma. We measure police training in weeks, while other countries measure in years. Our police academies are more like military boot camps with training to follow orders, not to think critically in acute situations. Perhaps, that has a lot to do with our unacceptable numbers for killings by police.
