My mother died when I was an infant, Jonathan, so your poem speaks to my heart. My father wasn’t the sentimental sort or maybe, it was simply too difficult for him to talk or think about her. There was only one picture of my mother in our house and very few stories were shared with me. She was an only child and her parents were deceased when she left this earth. Only one cousin remained in her family and since my father did not like the cousin, she also was not part of my life. I not only lost my mother but the stories she would have told me about her family. I feel very lopsided.

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
