My Sabbath is Saturday — no, I am not Jewish or tied to any religion — but that is the day our grandchildren visit. I pick them up from school Friday afternoon and they stay until late Saturday or early Sunday. That is our Gramita (my granddaughter’s name for me) Day. Soccer, swimming, walking dogs, cooking, baking, painting, watching movies, philosophical talks on the back porch, gardening. Those days are exhausting but renewing.

I often work on Sundays to keep my head above water. My clients’ offices are quiet on Sundays, and I accomplish more in 3 or 4 hours than I can in 5 or 6 during the week when phones are ringing and people are demanding my time.

Good advice, Jonas. It took me almost a lifetime to learn to dedicate a day each week to what nourishes me.

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
