My step-daughter lives in Jersey and works at Columbus Circle. She drives 20 minutes in heavy traffic to reach her train station. Then 30 minutes on train, sometimes standing, to reach Penn Station. Then a mad dash to board a subway train for a 10 to 15 minute ride (always standing). Then, a 5 minute walk. Going home is much worse. That’s when trains are canceled without notice or simply don’t appear as scheduled. Evenings are the most rushed with people racing to platforms to be first on train to grab what few seats may be available . I don’t know how she does it but your poem captured the insanity well.
