Oh, Somsubhra, your poem brought back memories of all the many dogs I've rescued over the years and in particular, a collie I found on the side of a country road walking in grass nearly as tall as she was. She was starving and had almost no skin on the pads of her feet and her eyes were almost sealed shut with crusty, dried pus. It took more than a month to heal her feet, as best as they could heal. She was already old; my vet estimated 11 years. She lived 2 more years with me before leaving this earth. She was the most gentle, noble dog I've ever known. She was one of many but also one of a kind.
