One of life’s conundrums. As a vegetarian and animal activist (as well as many other types of activist), I struggle with any product that has an ingredient from an animal or any product tested on animals. To avoid all interactions with any product or person I find questionable would require me to stop working and do nothing but research and investigate. We have to weigh and consider. I don’t eat eggs but also can’t question the ingredients in every food. At your birthday party, I will probably eat a small piece of cake to celebrate your birth but will not join you for an omelet breakfast and would never eat animal flesh for any reason. Seems hypocritical but it is part of the give and take of personal decisions and values.

If given a Paula Deen pan, I would use it, but I wouldn’t buy one. I avoid many restaurants and businesses because I can, because I have alternatives. Often, it is a matter of choosing the lesser of two evils.

I thoroughly enjoyed your piece, Sam.
