Our present home is attached to 2 other townhomes on either side which provides a great deal of insulation. We also have an excellent heating system. We are never cold inside here. But, I dislike being shut-up, relying on heat to stay warm. I also don’t walking my dog at dawn or at 9 pm in freezing temperatures!

The single-family rental home we had for years was 60 years old and had less-than-adequate insulation and heating/cooling systems were too small for the square footage. That house was never sufficiently warm or cool.

When I lived further south on the east coast, I rented a home with no heat or air-conditioning. Super cold in winter and hot in summer. Not uncommon back then.
