Outstanding, Russell Fox! A sad, contemporary story wrapped in the arms of a poem, exposing life as a person of color in America.
I’ve often said that men have no idea how difficult and frightening it is to be a woman in our society, always worrying about where to park, who is walking behind me, how dark it will be when heading home, can I trust that man I just met, should I have a second drink, are my doors and windows locked. Then, I think of non-whites in our society and realize the fear and risk of unwarranted violence is so much worse for them.
