People often overlook the fatigue element of depression and oddly, that is one of the most consistent symptoms. I also know it works the other way too — for people who are prone to depression, fatigue can trigger a depressive episode. When you are overtired for an unusual period of time, it’s like sending an invitation to depression. I work long hours, particularly certain times of the year, and although my determination to get through heavy workloads keeps me from sinking into depression, as soon as the work eases up, I am overcome with fatigue and that is when depression comes knocking.
I am glad your friend is okay, Jim.
