So, there are a stack of submissions, and I emailed one of the other editors to find out why. However, I also noticed your piece is over 500 words. We try to keep narratives at around 300 since the publication’s focus is on photography more than writing. With that said, I know many posts slip by with more than 300 words, but could you possibly pare it down? I know from private notes that one of the other unpublished pieces is on hold for the same reason.

The editor I emailed is the one who put the other submission on hold for narrative length, so I’d like to wait for her to respond before publishing yours. If would help if you can make it shorter. Thanks!

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
