Tatiana, nine-year-olds are not patient or resilient! But, it is possible their friendship will survive all the transformations of childhood and adolescence.
When I was seven, we moved from one state to another, forcing me to leave behind my best friend. We wrote letters and I visited every summer and sometimes at Christmas. While in school, I never had a friendship as close as that one. As adults, our friendship suffered the effects of families, busyness, careers, and of both of us moving even further apart, but we remained friends in spite of only seeing one another every 5 to 8 years.
We survived everything but Trump.
Haven’t spoken since the election.
