Thank you, Anne. Yes, our medical system made my situation so much worse than it needed to be. We Americans brag about our healthcare system and claim it’s the best in the world which is so untrue. It’s a hodgepodge of doctors, clinics, labs, and hospitals that don’t communicate well or at all and that delay treatment that is needed until a health situation becomes dire. No one with an acute health problem should have to wait 3 weeks to see a specialist to get treatment!

Now, I am waiting for all the bills to arrive. Even with our eldercare health insurance called Medicare, which we pay for all the years we work and have to continue to pay for monthly once we are old enough to qualify for coverage, and the supplemental insurance we have to have and pay for because Medicare only pays for certain care and then, only a percentage, I will still owe a lot of money. The number one reason for bankruptcies in the U.S. is medical expenses. I’ll have to negotiate a payment plan with the hospital and that is on top of the monthly payments I make for Medicare and my supplemental insurance. I was hoping to retire completely by this time next year, but with the anticipated hospital bills, I will need to continue working longer.
