Thank you, Jack 💗

The Captain’s waiting room is our home. He takes medication that prevents him from driving and with his own medical issues, I don’t want him in a hospital environment. Plus, seeing me here would be more upsetting. We talk often, he updates me on our fur-babies, and the neighbors. Friends are checking constantly to see if he needs anything.

The last 4 days have been really rough. I thought all would get better when I arrived at the hospital, but ER was jammed and hospital had no open beds. I spent the night trying unsuccessfully to sleep in a wheelchair in a packed waiting room while being horribly ill and in pain.

Next afternoon, I got a temp bed in a tiny ER room, but at least it was a bed! Then, I was moved to a real room and 15 minutes later moved to another room in the opposite side of hospital. I am finally settled, have good staff, and am hoping for answers and treatment.

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
