Thank you, Richard. I do compare my grief with that of others and find it to be less than and therefore undeserving of sharing or feeling. On the rare occasions of sharing, the recipient is quick to tell their story or someone else’s that is worse, discounting my feelings as unworthy or overly dramatic, leaving me to regret that I opened up. Hearing someone else’s sorrows does not lessen mine. To the contrary, the knowing of another’s pain increases mine.
