Thanks, Snappy, for sharing your childhood memories about gardening and flowers with us. I don't recall a strong connection to either when I was a child. In fact, I didn't garden much until I was in my 60s and I only do a limited amount, but I certainly enjoy flowers, especially wild ones.
My biggest surprise were the parks and gardens in NYC. The first time I visited there, I was shocked by the large city gardens, but also by the small, sometimes hidden, neighborhood ones. My favorite thing about Manhattan is its large and small green spaces and gardens.
