That was true in my childhood home, too, Inge, and I agree that that practice was wrong. I was not a difficult child when it came to food. I willingly ate almost everything, including most vegetables, without complaint, but I hated green peas and lima beans. My father would grab my jaw, forcing it open to shovel in those horrible vegetables.

I haven't heard of yellow pea soup but my father made green pea and lentil soups that I hated but was forced to eat.

As for blood sausage, oh my god, who would eat that?? Although I know my sister's in-laws butchered pigs and made blood sausage, no one ever tried to get me to eat it.

I am so glad that such barbaric parenting isn't practiced much anymore. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
