That’s true of us, too. My husband is retired and the cook, although he was cooking less and less due to my late evenings at work and our different diets — I am a vegetarian and he is not but is diabetic. Too much to juggle, so take-out and eat-out became our dietary habits. Now that I am working from home 2 days a week and eating out is impossible and even take-out is scary, he is cooking more often. We are enjoying fresher, healthier meals at our own dining table.

We’ve been financially helping a young mother with 3 children who is self-employed and unable to work due to the shutdown. She and her children are going to you-pick farms and to show gratitude for our help, they bring us fresh berries and vegetables. A delicious and healthy win-win situation.

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
