They have to repipe our house, Dan. The cost is way more money than we have and insurance won't cover it. I have to get a loan and return to full time work. Not what I expected at 69. My husband starts kidney dialysis as soon as he has 2 operations. We've been without water for a week and it will be at least another week. We are lugging buckets from a neighbor to flush toilets. We can't shower. Taking sponge baths.

I'm severely depressed. I'll miss you and all the friends I made here. Since the pandemic started and attitudes here in the South were so selfish, we discovered the friends we thought we had are not real friends. The one neighbor we were close to moved to Wisconsin. My only real friend is Gina. I relied heavily on my virtural friends on Medium. I don’t have that luxury anymore. I'll be deactivating my account as soon as Medoum support transfers ownership to Louise Peacock.

I enjoyed knowing you, Dan.

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
