This American apologizes to the world for the suffering, fear, and confusion our ignorance, infighting, and ineptitude have inflicted. I am embarrassed to be part of this society that continues to chew off its own body parts. Yesterday’s Supreme Court confirmation will continue the downward slide of humanity even if the perpetrator of all the aggression and chaos leaves the house. Decades of human rights will be macheted and mangled. I am deeply depressed to have lived long enough to see this implosion of democracy.
