This country is all about money and power. Guns are being bought in record numbers. The white supremacists are talking about “taking back” their country while everyone’s attention is on the virus. Idiots are ignoring laws regarding social distancing and staying at home. Our beaches were crowded with spring-breakers. A household in my neighborhood had a huge birthday party for a child on Saturday — at least 20 cars full of people. People are belligerent and disobedient.

The Lt. Governor of Texas said old people should be willing to die for the economy so the country can get back to work. Yep, he said that.

A man on our city’s website had a meltdown in a response to the city not picking up anything other than household trash during the stay-at-home order. He is home from work so he is doing yard work and he wants his yard debris picked up, virus or no virus. His rant was more than 500 words calling all the city officials every derogatory word he could think of. He gave no thought to the poor sanitation employees who are still working diligently with reduced staff.

It’s disheartening, to say the least. We are a nation of self-serving morons. Tragic and true. Sure, there are good people — many — but the bad ones seem to be growing in number. It’s as if they tried to be civil until Trump gave them license to be their true selves.
