I understand the 8-year-old perspective. I’ve recently been trying to return to that time when the tiniest leaf or twig or shell could fascinate me for hours. Or, even to get to the point that I notice those things as I once did as a child.

Pay attention! Look down! Look close! See what you’ve missed all these years when you were looking ahead or behind, never here, never at the tiny bud or the emerging leaf begging for your attention!

Yep, I have that conversation in my head often.
