This really touched my heart, Somsubhra. I have no tangible connections to my grandparents - three of whom were dead before I was born. And, I have nothing from the one I knew briefly, my paternal grandmother.

My mother passed when I was three months old. My father kept her china and crystal until we moved a second time. Then, he auctioned it off, allowing myself and my sisters to keep one item. I kept a cut-glass sugar bowl which shattered when the shelf on which it sat fell many years ago. Now, I have nothing.

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
