This was a trip down memory lane for me, too, Ronald. No, I am not Pennsylvania Dutch nor was I raised in that state. But, I did spend my early childhood in Maryland and we'd often take a Sunday drive to Pennsylvania. Later, a childhood friend settled in Lancaster County and I visited several times. Lovely area. But, like you, I prefer warm.

Your piece reminded me that I knew a Dutch man who was born and raised in Puerto Rico. He's been gone many years now. His family spoke only Dutch at home.
