Tre, I connect strongly with your story. Our townhome circle is full of neighborly people but only one was a true friend of ours, and she recently moved almost 1.200 miles away. At 71, she needed to think of her future in a way younger people don't. Being near her son and his wife would provide her with the care and attention she'll need as the years pass. The new owner of her unit is a young nurse with a 24-month-old son. She's very sweet but not likely to become a true friend due to her age difference with Ben and me.
I miss Brenda soooo much. We talk in the phone weekly but it's not the same. A friend in the circle south of ours put her unit on the market two weeks ago. She's about Brenda's age and is moving to Orlando to be near her daughter.
I hope some of the new people in your building will become your friends. Change is always difficult, especially when it involves our homes and who we see every day.
