Vegetables are my gardening Achilles heel! Other than hot peppers, I cannot successfully grow food! Even my herbs are puny. Tomatoes are supposed to be so easy — not for me.

This year, at the urging of my granddaughter, I planted watermelon. My little piece of earth is not big enough for watermelons but I planted one bush or vine or whatever it is. It made her happy. Just for the heck of it, I also planted a small blackberry bush. I really don’t expect much from either.
