Very interesting. I can see some city sounds as appealing but most are more grating to me.

My husband lived for many years in the congested northeast where traffic, human, and industrial noises were constant. When he first came to my small city in Florida where most homes are on the outskirts of louder city areas, he couldn’t sleep because it was too quiet. At the same time, I moved for a very rural area to this small city and I couldn’t sleep because it was too noisy. All perspective.

I know people who dislike the natural, vibrant colors in Florida, even referring to the colors as loud and unsettling. While I find the duller northern colors, especially in winter, to be terribly depressing. All perspective.
