Waipi’o Fire

Big valley sky —
Blood and fire,
The crimson of rage,
The carnelian of valor,
The burgundy of passion,
The scarlet of lust —
The color of my island
Painted in God-strokes
Across the heavens,
Drenching the sky,
Dissolving its blues,
Weeping into the sea,
As once again the day dies,
Giving life to the night.
