Welcome to Weeds & Wildflowers, Thalia! Thank you for this nature-focused first submission.
When the pandemic first began and most places were in various stages of isolation in the spring, I saw what you describe. Our busy residential street was mostly quiet, deer wandered about, a fox made a den near a condo complex and raised 2 kits, whole families took walks and bike rides together, and there was a soothing silence all about.
But, at least here in Florida, all that ended abruptly in May. We have returned to frenetic energy and the virus replaced the wildlife. Riverways and lakes are crowded with beer-drinking partiers as the deaths reach unbelievable numbers. No one seems to care and Mother Earth has retreated.
It's a tragically sad and desperate time.
