What a beautiful place, Swaroopa, but what a horrific story about the mass suicides of women and the murders of their children, for the children had no choice in the decision of suicide, so their deaths were murders.

I am only familiar with one fort - Castillo de San Marcos in St. Augustine, Florida. It was built by the Spanish between 1672 and 1695. It's the only military construction from the 17th century still intact in the United States.
