What a gift to have your grandmother in your life, Leo, and how fortunate that she found her journal. Of course, the circumstance of her house being robbed of everything is horrendous, but the journal is a blessing. I hope she reads more of it to you or that you are able to read it. We lose so much history when our elders pass. You have a chance to grab a bit of it, as you did with this story.

My husband is the eldest of 8. His mother, father and the brother closest to him in age have all passed. He realizes there are so many memories that only he has for his entire family. All his siblings are too young. He is the memory. Once he goes, those stories go, too.
