What a great photo! They all look happy and excited.

Food won’t work for Chanelito. He has a complicated and psychotic relationship with food and with his food dish. Put down his dish with some yummy food and he runs and hides in our bedroom. He may approach it during the day, as though it’s a rattlesnake, circling and circling, getting close, sniffing, running away, coming back, circling, getting close, sniffing, eating one small tidbit, running away. It can take him hours to eat one small dish of food. Has always been like that to one degree or another but has gotten worse with age. Sometimes he acts the same way with his empty food dish. Doesn’t matter how many times we change his food or his dish. He often goes a day or two without eating before hunger overcomes whatever monsters haunt his bowl or his mind. He dislikes almost all dog treats but will occasionally eat a tortilla chip but he has to see it come from the bag.

I’ve always said he believes he is Chinese royalty so I am sure his odd food behavior is due to his fear of being poisoned by rival warlords. Makes sense to me.

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
