Watch out for that bear when you are out rooting in the dark, moist woods for mushrooms!! We have a national forest south of us and I have relatives who live southwest of it. In spite of living in a subdivision 1/2 mile from a 4-lane highway, they often see bears. Although our Florida bears are smaller than bears north of us, they can be very dangerous. Driving to their home, I have to drive by the national forest and have seen bears at night — once a dead one hit by a car. There are bear warning signs everywhere but they are nearly impossible to see in the road at night until you are right at them.
