What wonderful Thanksgiving memories you have, Tom!
I didn’t mean to insinuate that no men participate in Thanksgiving dinner preparations. In fact, since my mother died when I was an infant, my father was in charge of our Thanksgiving dinners when I was a child. My sisters and I helped but he was the chef, teaching us along the way. However, we girls had all the cleanup to do!
Never much fond of turkey and its accompanying dishes and as a vegetarian most of my adult life, I didn’t think all the work was worth it, especially since I’ve work 45 to 55 hours a week most of my career. Any week with a holiday, like Thanksgiving week, I have to make up for the two days off by working 12 to 14 hours for each of the three days prior, leaving little time or energy for all that had to be done for a meal I didn’t much like. The socializing around the food was usually fun and where my best memories nest. But, that is also the source of my worst Thanksgiving story which I will share later!
