Who cares? Humanity evolves. Morals and societal standards change. Do you know that same god was fine with slavery and bigamy? Should we be? If we followed the rules of that god, no one could consume a cheeseburger or shop on the Sabbath, men could beat their wives and divorce would be nonexistent.

We pick and choose what to believe and what to prioritize in our lives. The church I once attended railed against alcohol, but the members ate like pigs at a trough at church dinners. Gluttony wasn’t once mentioned in a sermon. They condemned homosexuality while overlooking the adultery that took place between church members. An unmarried girl with child was ostracized while the boy who gave her that child was not. She moved away in shame and poverty while he married and became a deacon.

I believe that all “partners” also have platonic love. And, I don’t see how romantic love and so-called brotherly love can be disentangled and one called evil while the other is praised as godly.

Personally, I don’t care what a god supposedly said or didn’t say. My post was about my grandson and his response to teachings of the Catholic Church, therefore, I spoke of “God” and the commandment to love one another — but, personally, the god we are taught about, the god of Christianity and Judaism, is not a guy I like much. I really don’t care what he supposedly said or didn’t say because, really, no one can prove any of it. The words of men on paper. Nothing more.

I am saddened you are struggling against who you are to appease some god who made you that way. Seems contradictory, doesn’t it?
