Wow, Jim, I'm glad, too, that the hawk didn't nab the dove! Our hawks find plenty to eat without bothering a bird as large as a dove. At least our doves are fairly good-sized - often chubby - maybe yours are smaller.

I am always so conflicted about nature. I don't want anything to kill anything, and that's simply not how it works. A few weeks ago, I felt sad when I saw a young fox with a squirrel in his mouth. This morning, I saw what I assume is the same fox dead on the side of the road. I felt such deed sadness for the fox. He was young and beautiful.
