Yes, the American health care system is inefficient, inadequate, and incompetent. I live in a city with a large medical community — two large hospitals, a university School of Medicine, a doctor’s office on nearly every corner — and still I struggled to get an appointment, forcing me to go to a hospital emergency room to be seen and treated.

The lack of communication between doctors and the hospitals is unbelievable. Records and information are not shared. I had to answer the same questions over and over, even from one department to another within the hospital. When I had a follow-up appointment with my primary care doctor, he had not been copied on a single test, procedure, or result. He had NO information from the hospital. Outrageous.
