You are always an inspiration, dear Adam, reminding us that getting through can be as great a victory as escaping, conquering or changing. Optimism takes many forms. Not only is it the sunny Pollyanna attitude that often annoys but is also the bravery to think this world has something to offer even when it feels like it doesn’t. The courage to stay when going would be easier. The fortitude to accept, even when it’s with reluctance. The willingness to just be is a form of optimism.

Optimism to me is not sunny yellow — it is the faintest glow in the dark.

On this Thanksgiving Day, I am grateful for you and for what you do here.

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
