Your living room and dining room are so Pennsylvania! Really, I swear of seen almost exact replicas of them in various houses in your state over the years.
I am still in awe of your 4-seasons porch!
Yeah, stairs were never my friend. With the back problems I've had since childhood and having lived most of my life in the South, I haven't had a home with stairs (not counting dorms in college) since I was 7, and that's fine with me. No way I could handle them now. Well, not true - many days I could, many days I could not.
I have a client with a home office in his Colonial-style home. The office was a renovated bedroom on the second floor. The house has a long, winding staircase that was torture for me, even on my good days. There were times I had to cancel working there because I knew I couldn't get up the stairs. He kept promising to create a first-floor office, which finally became a reality in 2020 due to the pandemic. Yeah, I was not walking through that house to work in the sleeping quarters during a pandemic! He converted the formal living room, which they never used, into a lovely and roomy office for me. Right next to the front door. No walking through the house. One good thing came out of the pandemic!
