Your spiritual practices are very interesting, Shruthi. In contrast, I think of fire as frightening and never want an open flame in our home. That may be because, when I was a child, my father was a volunteer fireman. We lived in a small town that couldn't afford a fulltime fire department, so men in the community volunteered and were called whenever there was a fire. My mother was deceased, so if my father was called to a fire at night, I and my sisters were bundled and put in the back seat of the car while he drove to the fire. We would remain there, watching a house or a business burning, until my father's services were no longer needed. More than once, I saw families huddled together watching everything they owned go up in flames. I don't trust flames in my home!
