Your story and photos gave me mixed feelingss, Eira. First, the photos are well done and beautiful. I grew up on a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia in a community that survived off fishing, farming, crabbing, and oystering. We lived on and off the water. My father crabbed for many years while owning a boat repair/building business. Your photo and story brought back many memories.
Believe me, I remember days fishing on the Bay or in the Potomac River and the nights catching crabs by dock lights and cooking and eating them with my friends at the local marina.
Soon after reaching adulthood, though, I became a vegetarian and animal-rights activist. Hence, the mixed feelings.
But, nature provides in many ways and we each choose the ones that resonate with us. I will stick with fruits and vegetables and you can add fish ♥
